Vampire Romance of the Big and Little Screens

vampire romanceI guess it should be no surprise that once again a trio of teen vampire romances is in the news.  Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part Two gears up for its final movie this fall in a series of revelations that have all of the “Twi-Hards” (what a strange name the media has created for Twilight fans) chattering up a storm.  Meanwhile, True Blood’s own teen vamp Jessica, played by actress Deborah Ann Woll is getting some virtual ink for her vocal abilities along with her acting. And finally, fans are gearing up for the return of The Vampire Diaries in October, and we have a little tibdbit about a character we are looking forward to seeing not only return, but as a recurring one at that.

Twilight’s Happy Ending

Yes, it is true if you have heard the rumors about the ending of the final installment of Twilight; Breaking Dawn. It seems that Stephanie Myers, the author of the original books that the films are based on, had a brainstorm while dining with the film’s screenwriter. She decided to change the last third of the film and bring in a whole new storyline. No one is revealing exactly what it is, but with all of vampiredom gathered together to protect baby Renesmee from the Volturi, we are pretty sure a giant battle is amongst the plans.

But that was already in the books, so we will have to wait and see what this new storyline will look like. All I know is Pattison says he is impressed with it. And they also released some new pics from the shooting of the film. The one above is from that batch and looks mighty sweet to me. If there is room I may throw in a few more for those fans of vampire romance and all things Twilight to enjoy.

Jessica Sings Up a Storm

I know that often actors will have some fine singing chops on them, and sometimes they will record albums even if they don’t. Heck, all you have to do is sit and listen to one of Bill Shatner’s old releases to see that truth. But I was surprised to see and hear what a great voice Deborah Ann Woll has, the actor that does a fine job of playing Jessica ,the princess of teen vampire romance, on True Blood. It seems that she and Peter Travers, the movie critic for Rolling Stone Magazine were chatting and at the end he challenged her to do some impromptu singing to end the show.

I don’t know about you, but the idea of our little Jessica doing some Gershwin on True Blood sounds like a bit of fun the show could use these days, as it gets down to the nitty gritty of a season ender. Check out her singing for Travers here on Perez Hilton’s site for a taste of musical song and dance, vamp style!

A New Prof for The Vampire Diaries

Of course the hints are fast and furious for any new cast members in The Vampire Diaries as they continue to gear up for the October return of the show. The word this week is that David Alpay will be playing a recurring role as a very hot looking professor named Shane. Seems Shane is a believer in the occult and even has some history with Bonnie’s family. I guess anyone who has history with Bonnie’s family would certainly tend to be a believer in the occult at some point!

Speaking of Bonnie, there is some talk of her “going dark” as a consequence to the spell she cast that put  Klaus in Tyler’s body. It may have saved her friends but that doesn’t mean the witches are all too happy with her or aren’t going to try and do something about it. So perhaps with that kind of trouble, Bonnie may need the help of her old friend Shane. And since the show is making a point to let us know just how sexy and charismatic Shane will be, could Bonnie be looking for more than advice? We will just have to wait until October to find out if some new vampire romance shows up on The Vampire Diaries.

So I guess you could say there is plenty of teen vampire romance hanging in the wings of the big and little screen these days. I love the fact we have so much variety when it comes to our choices in vampire romance, from teen marriages to bloody southern towns and college dorms. The heck with spring, fall seems to be the season for vampire romance, teen or otherwise, these days!
