New Vampire Books for October 2012
This month we have a great collection of new vampire books for October 2012 release. We have the several books that are continuations of vampire series, and a few new stand alone novels that we happen to think are a great read for anyone.
Sure, some people seem to think that vampires are on the way out, but as discussed at a recent fantasy convention I was attending, vampires are a mythos that will always be with us. They may change how the story is told, switch from the vampire point of view to the slayer point of view. But I think you will find that all our new vampire books for October 2012 listing are great additions to the ongoing search for the dark side of ourselves.
Absolution by Susannah Sandlin
This is one of our new vampire books for October 2012 that is part of a series, in this case the second book of the Penton Vampire Legacy series. It is a world where vampires and humans exist, but vampires are starving because their food supply is tainted. Humans have been inoculated across almost the entire race and now their blood is lethal to vampires. Vampires are desperate and so kidnapping of untainted humans has begun. Glory is not only an untainted human, she has an ability that the vampire Matthias wants to tap into. When he captures slayer Mirren though he makes his mistake. For Mirren has friends who can rescue not only Mirren, but Glory as well. If they can do it in time.
Absolution comes in both paperback and e-book formats.
The Vampire Diaries: The Hunters: Phantom by L.J. Smith
Elena and her crew are back and this time have a mysterious power to deal with that may be choosing victims at random in the town. In our second series pick for the list of vampire books for October 2012 there is mystery and action right from the beginning. First Bonnie pricks her finger and Celia’s name is written in blood. Then Celia is almost killed when her scarf gets caught (how weird is that!) in the train. But when another victim’s name is written in the scarf they know they need to get to the bottom of this. Whether you are on team Delena or rooting for Bamon you will get into this latest Vampire Diaries addition to the new Hunters series.
You can get Phantom as either a paperback or Kindle version.
Black Dawn: The Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine
Black Dawn brings us to the eleventh book in the Morganiville Vampires series, and we pick up right where Last Breath left us. Morganville is still fighting off the draugs that have invaded the town. This time the town’s leader Amelie has been struck and Oliver must find a way to keep everyone in town motivated and organized to find the horrible creatures before they completely take over the town. Thankfully there is more than just battle here, as we see more into the relationships of Shane and Claire and see Oliver truly come into his own story here. Out of all of the vampire books for October 2012, Black Dawn is definitely a kick ass continuation of a series.
Black Dawn can be ordered as a paperback or Kindle edition.
Ghosts of Memory: A Vampire Memories Novel by Barb Hendee
In this elegant pick for our vampire books for October 2012, Eleisha is a vampire who has learned to survive amongst humans by following The Four Laws. Together with her protector Phillip and human companion she searches for lone vampires to offer them sanctuary by teaching them The Four Laws that they may survive. A stand alone story that is part of the ongoing series, Ghosts of Memory looks at the psychology of vampires. They are beings both stronger and more vulnerable then the short-lived humans they require for sustenance. Julian is a vampire who rages against what Eleisha teaches and uses her team to unwittingly lead him to his victims. A vampire novel that is thrilling and thoughtful at the same time.
Ghosts of Memory is available in both paperback and kindle formats.

Shadow Rising by Yasmine Galenorn
Life is never simple for the D’Artigo sisters. Half-human and half-Fae, the three sisters are also former operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. Camille’s three husbands keep the witch busy, Deliah is a bit more complicated as a Death Maiden and werecat should be. This book follows Menolly, the sister who has been turned by a vampire and is making plans for her sexy mate who is a werepuma. When they discover that an evil necomancer is starting back up the Scorching Wars and the Lord of Ghosts is striving to control all the magical beings on Earth they are suddenly between not only two wars but across two realities. This continuation of the wildly successful Otherworld series is a must have for our vampire books for October 2012 listing. It will be a must read for you too!

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Claire
This is another series for our list of vampire books for October 2012 that I have grown really fond of. The last book saw the conclusion of the Mortal War and many of us thought it was the end of the series, but Clare must have felt she wasn’t done with these characters quite yet, and we are glad. Clary Fray returns to New York quite happy with her life. Then she finds out someone is killing Shadowhunters and Simon has been tossed from his home by his Mother when she discovers he is a vampire. Worst yet, something is wrong with Mace, the love of her life. Finding out what is at the root of all of this may be the hardest thing she has ever done.
City of Fallen Angels can be ordered as a paperback or in Kindle format.
Sunset (Pact Arcana) by Archad Ahsanuddin
It begins with the threat to Los Angeles. The terrorist Medusa threatens to blow the city up in the middle of a televised awards show. To fight this threat, humanity must be told of the others who walk amongst them. People like Nick Jameson who is a Daywalkers, a vampire who has a soul. In this imaginative addition to our collection of vampire books for October 2012 Nick soon finds he must enlist the aid of the others, even his enemies the Nightwalkers and their Court of Shadows. But when a Sentinel named Jeremy meets Nick they know that even the shadowy Sentinels must be brought into the light of day to fight this Medusa. For this is a battle that engulfs loyalties, romances and even magic to find the balance of power in the world.
