New Fantasy Books – Catching up on Jane True Series

Introducing the Jane True Series from Nicole Peelers

Around this time every year a crop of new fantasy books complete several ongoing fantasy series collections. There is something about new fantasy books that is always an adventure to look forward to, especially if those new fantasy books I will be reading are part of a great series. Of course, if the new fantasy books don’t hold up to the earlier writing, it is always a disappointment, but luckily I don’t have to worry about that with the Jane True series from Nicole Peelers.

While I like the standalone new fantasy books because they are quick, the series books give me a feeling of returning to familiar territory. That familiar feeling may be why many new fantasy books lately are part of a series. Jane True is a series I am fond of, though, so I was glad to see a new addition with Tempests Fury. But let me catch you up on the series first.

Tempest Rising by Nicole Peelers

Tempest Rising by Nicole Peelers, new fantasy booksJane True is a small town girl who somehow just never fits in. While heard often enough in new fantasy books, here it was more than just being different. It went far beyond that.

It wasn’t that the folks in Rockabill Maine were mean, but their embrace of “normal society rules” just didn’t sit well with her. She knew it didn’t apply to her. Then while on one of her nightly swims a series of events happen that lead to a new discovery for Jane. The explanation of why she was always a square peg in a round hole. She discovers she is not quite human.

Jane has plenty to deal with at home already. Family problems, her own problems with her past and then a private eye shows up in her life that disturbs her in more ways than she wants to consider. His name is Ryu. Get used to this devastatingly handsome vampire because he is going to be around for a while. Soon Jane is faced with two handsome alternatives in a world very different from the one she thought she knew.

This book, heck the entire new fantasy books series is a fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek ride. Although a murder mystery starts the series, it is really about relationships. Luckily, like many of the better new fantasy books, Nicole Peeler can spin a story that pulls you in quickly and then anchors you down with great characters and lots of action. Hmmm- even sometimes a bit of that kind of action.

Tracking The Tempest by Nicole Peelers

Tracking The Tempest by Nicole Peelers, new fantasy booksBeing a halfling is never easy, and Jane True can tell you all about it. But she has Ryu as a consolation prize for now, and what a sizzling prize he is! But while in Boston for a sneaky and fun Valentine surprise, she decides to help him on a case.

She stumbles upon what might just turn out to be another halfling and in the process discovers her true powers. Could it be she is not as alone in the world as she thought? Among new fantasy books this gal’s writing just gets stronger, I like this one even better than the first.

Tempest’s Legacy by Nicole Peelers

Tempest's Legacy by Nicole Peelers, new fantasy booksWhat’s a girl to do? Ryu may be sexy but Anyan is even hotter. Jane goes home to Rockabill to regroup and train harder. Throwing fireballs is not as easy as it looks!

Meanwhile, someone is attacking women, human or otherwise, and this could mean Jane is in their sites! Of all the many new fantasy books I have read this year, Peeler’s handling of Jane and her determination to succeed at this new life is refreshing.

Eye of the Tempest by Nicole Peelers

Eye of the Tempest by Nicole Peelers, new fantasy booksHome is no longer safe when Jane and Anyan come under attack from humans with enough firepower to show they mean business. Watching her lover fall before her unleashes something within Jane she never knew she had.

She wakes up weeks later to find more than her own inner darkness was released that day. Something ancient and deadly is about to arise. Whatever it is – can Jane and her band of friends stop it?

Things are building, as Jane sees just how deadly this battle is getting. The characters we have come to know and love in this not-so-new fantasy books series are becoming old friends as I look forward to what the next book will bring.

Tempest’s Fury by Nicole Peelers

Tempest's Fury by Nicole Peelers, new fantasy booksThis latest of the new fantasy books I have read in this series has our gal sent off to England to fight a war. Not her choice of what she would rather be doing! She has been given the nod to be the Champion, and she is still getting her feet wet in the supernatural world! Having finally settled into a relationship with Anyan, she would rather be snuggling with him. Fair warning, the cliffhanger on the latest in our favorite new fantasy books series is one will drive you crazy – but you won’t want to miss out on it either!

As you can see, all of these, both the old and new fantasy books are part of a series you can dive into and come up reeling. But I love how no matter whether I am rereading the old books or the latest of the new fantasy books from Jane True, there is always something in there for me.

Peeler has yet to disappoint me with any new fantasy books she pens. I think that Tempest Fury stands up well against any new fantasy books out there and makes a great addition to this ongoing tale of one of my favorite heroines in vampire land. I would love to hear from our readers and know how many of you have tried this series out yet!
