Vampire Diaries, Torrey DeVitto, Paul Wesley, Vampire television showPaul Wesley may be able to hitch a ride with his wife when he heads into work on Vampire Diaries soon as his wife Torry DeVitto will be having a recurring role in the show. Wesley, who stars in Vampire Diaries for the CW married DeVitto this past spring, but they had both been quite busy in their respective shows and had not mentioned the possibility of working together on Vampire Diaries.

DeVitto, who is perhaps better known for her role on Pretty Little Liars than for being on a vampire television show, will be appearing in two episodes so far of the show, numbers 310 and 311 and there are rumors that the role could continue from there.

She will be playing the role of Mary, a young doctor who has become curious about the ability of Alaric, played by Matt Davis, to continuously recover much too quickly from his wounds that she witnesses. The vampire drama that runs on the CW will be creating the character of Mary as a doctor who is perhaps a little too smart and starts to ask questions.

Vampire Diaries Season_Season 3_Ep 3_The End of the AffairDamon is drinking again when his phone rings and it’s Katherine. She says she knows where Klaus and Stefan are. And where they are is in Chicago. The show flashes back to prohibition days and Stefan is in his full Ripper form, killing with abandon.

Elena rolls over in bed and onto a body dressed in black. Wonder who that is? Yep, it’s Damon and she jerks upright, pushing away from him. He tells her he’s there to bring Stefan home so if she wants to go with him, she better start packing.

Caroline is still chained to a chair, calling for her father. Bill asks her how she is able to walk in the sunlight and she shows him the ring. He takes it off her finger and he shows her how he is going to ‘fix’ her as he shows her blood and when she responds to it, he flips open a blind and lets the sunlight burn her. A little aversion therapy for the vampire.

Elena and Damon are driving to Chicago and Damon tries to get her to read Stefan’s vampire diary from his prohibition days. Stefan and Klaus meet Gloria at their old hangout, she’s a powerful witch who says she needs Rebecca to understand why the hybrid creation spell did not work. Stefan finds a photo of him and Klaus from the ‘old days’. He has no memory of it.

Daddy continues to torture Caroline as Tyler makes his way to the sheriff’s house. Bill says that eventually the thought of human blood will cause her to repress her vampire instincts and stay human…yeah…right.

Klaus and Stefan met in Prohibition days when Stefan made a move on Klaus’ sister, Rebecca. It flashes back to present day where the two of them enter an old warehouse full of coffins. Klaus opens one on them and there is Rebecca. Klaus pulls a knife out of her chest and he waits for her to wake up.

Flashback to the past again and Klaus is chatting with Stefan and Rebecca. To Klaus, Stefan is not a pure vampire and not good enough for his sister. Then Stefan does a gross demonstration where he makes a man drink his wife’s blood. Klaus is very impressed by Stefan’s cruelty.

Elena is reading Stefan’s diary when Klaus and Stefan arrive. Klaus opens the door to the closet where Elena is hiding to show Stefan the list of names of the ones he killed as the Ripper. Stefan and Elena come face to face and they stare at each other. He backs out of the closet and they leave without Klaus having a clue that she was there.

Damon and Elena are planning to meet up with Klaus and Stefan at the bar that night. Damon says he’ll handle Klaus and Elena has got to be ready to handle Stefan.

Bill is telling Caroline she must try her best to avoid the vampire urge or he will kill her. The sheriff arrives and points a gun at Bill while telling Tyler to let Caroline out. He lets her go and carries her out.

Stefan wants to know why, if he and Klaus were such good friends in the old days, why Klaus is such a bastard to him now – so much so that he killed his girlfriend in front of him? And they flash back to the prohibition bar where Stefan is dancing with Rebecca and they are raided by the police shooting wooden bullets. Rebecca says “it’s him” and Klaus grabs her and they run away. Klaus wipes Stefan’s memory of the two vampires. That’s when Stefan figures out that Klaus is actually running from someone.

Damon goes into the bar and gets Stefan outside to come outside. Elena talks to Stefan while Damon goes in and taunts Klaus. Gloria stops Klaus from killing Damon, telling them to take it outside.

Stefan walks up to Elena and asks her what she wants. She asks him to come home and they hug. She raises a vervain syringe but he catches on and grabs her arm. He tells her I don’t want to come home – it’s done. He’s quite convincing and she looks like she finally believes him.

Caroline is at home, drinking blood and trying to recover. Tyler and Caroline snuggle up together in bed and she starts crying over the fact that her dad hates her so much.

Klaus goes to check on Rebecca and he sees a drained security guard. Looks like that vampire woke up after all. Klaus restores Stefan’s memories and his love for Rebecca comes to him. Klaus tells her that she is here to help Gloria contact the original witch and find out what’s wrong with his hybrid spell. But Rebecca doesn’t have her necklace which is apparently what she needs to do the contact spell. Stefan gave that to Elena quite a while ago.

Lastly, there’s a final flashback to the twenties bar after the police raid and it’s Katherine in full flapper dress. She sees Stefan as he picks up Rebecca’s necklace from the floor. Flash back to the present and Katherine is in Chicago. She is surely up to no good.

Vampire Diaries Season_Season 3_Ep 2_The HybridJeremy is seeing the ghost of Vickie; Elena knows that Stefan is killing humans; and Mrs. Lockwood shoots Caroline with a vervain dart. So begins episode 2 of the Vampire Diaries as Elena confronts Damon about why he is avoiding her. She lets him know that Stefan called her but Damon dismisses her assertions that Stefan is still reachable on some level.

Elena wakes Alaric up from his latest drinking binge demanding that he tell her everything he knows. She insists the Stefan is hanging on to his humanity and she will not give up on him. Alaric tells her that Stefan and Klaus are tracking werewolves and they’ve ended up in the mountains of Tennessee.

Klaus and Stefan are carrying their unconscious werewolf victim, Ray, through the woods when they come upon Ray’s pack. All the pack member’s are very leery of the two vampires. Ray looks dead but he suddenly comes to life. Klaus is transitioning him into a wolf/vampire hybrid and he plans to turn them all into his own personal army.

Tyler comes down from his bedroom after the night with Caroline, looking happy and relaxed. Mrs. Lockwood put vervain into the coffee to test Tyler. He passes the test and heads out for the day. She calls a man named Bill to help her out with her vampire captive, Caroline.

Elena meets with Tyler to learn about werewolves and he tells her of a gathering place in the mountains of Tennessee. He tastes the coffee Matt brought him and comments on it’s nasty taste. Matt says it’s the vervain, the sheriff has him slip it into the restaurant’s coffee. Tyler’s shocked – “is this what vervain tastes like?” – then you see the realization of what his mother did that morning come over him.

Elena and Alaric are hiking in the mountains, trying to locate the pack. She walks over to the water when something zings up behind her and she’s suddenly sailing through the air and into the middle of the river. Damon is smugly leaning against a tree watching her splash around.

Damon demands that Elena get out of the water and go home. She refuses so he goes down and joins her, asking her how she plans to help Stefan in the middle of a werewolf pack on a full moon. Damon reminds Elena that Klaus thinks she’s dead and that’s the only thing keeping her safe. She begs him to help her and he finally says okay, but they have to be out of there before the full moon – unless she wants to “relive the whole deathbed kissy thing” – and she repeats, “I promise” as they stand in the water staring at each other.

Klaus and Stefan are busily torturing the werewolf pack and Stefan disdains Klaus’ plan to create an army of hybrid slaves, especially since there is no war to fight. They are proceeding to turn everyone in that pack when Ray races off into the woods. Stefan is sent after him and during the chase, his vampire hearing picks up the sound of Damon and Elena sniping at each other.

Tyler confronts his mother on her little trick with the vervain. She calls Caroline a monster and Tyler shows her just what a monster is when he takes her down to his werewolf hole and makes her watch him turn. She now says she won’t let Caroline be hurt but it might be too late.

Ray stumbles up to the trio and attacks Damon who is barely able to take him down. They tie Ray up and the three of them run as Ray starts to turn into a werewolf in broad daylight. Damon and Ray fight it out in the woods when Stefan kills Ray to save his brother. He tells Damon to take Elena home and keep her there this time – Stefan is never coming home.

Matt goes to Jeremy’s house with a six-pack and some of Vickie’s personal items. Vickie appears and tells Jeremy that she can come back. Just then, a window breaks out and Anna shows up, telling Jeremy not to trust anything that Vickie says.

Stefan shows back up at the pack camp carrying Ray and finds everyone dead, they all went rabid or bled out. Klaus is insanely mad and starts listing all the things he did to make this work – he broke the curse, killed a werewolf, killed a vampire, killed the doppelganger…and here he hesitates and Stefan looks concerned. Did Klaus just figure out that Elena might not be dead?

Elena comes out of the bath and Damon’s in her bedroom. He tells her that he was wrong – he thought Stefan was gone but he now knows he was wrong, Stefan can be saved. He tells her he will help her bring him back. She confesses that she was worried about Damon, she does not want him to get hurt. He gives her a very self-satisfied smile then tells he wants her to be sure and remember the things she felt while Stefan was gone as he holds her face for a long moment.

Caroline wakes up in a cell, chained to a chair, and Bill enters. Caroline says “Daddy?”. Wow, this guy’s her dad?! And yet he still plans to kill her…or will he?

Vampire Diaries Season_Season 3_Ep 1_The BirthdayElena is turning eighteen as her search for Stefan continues. Remember, last season ended with Damon having a werewolf bite but Stefan gave himself to Klaus (the vampire/werewold hybrid) in order to save his brother. Klaus thinks he killed Elena, the doppelganger, so Damon wants to keep her hidden and safe. Now, season three opens with Klaus stopping at a house where two young women live, looking for Ray Sutton, a werewolf. Once they get the info they need, Stefan proceeds to rip their throats out. Klaus is pleased at how well his new protégé kills.

Damon is sitting in the tub, wanting more champagne while his reporter girlfriend tells him to get it himself. So, he walks naked to find more champagne and then Elena comes in so Damon greets her naked, covered in bubbles. She throws him a cover and tells him about an animal attack in Memphis, that it could be Stephen and Klaus.

Caroline and Tyler are helping Elena prepare for her party. Tyler is bringing a date to the birthday party and Caroline hassles him about it to which he replies “I am horny all the time now”. She’s like “tell me about it, I feel like I’m going to explode” and Tyler is quite intrigued. But, Caroline sends him on his way.

Elena feels that Stefan is still alive and she will find him. She is tracking “animal attacks” in the hope of locating Stefan. Alaric joins Damon to go visit the latest lead and they find the two murdered girls, sitting on a sofa. Damon knows its Stefan because he used to be called the Ripper – he rips the bodies apart and then, in a fit of remorse, he puts them back together again like they are still alive. Damon proceeds to burn down the house and cover their tracks.

Klaus finds Ray in a bar and he wants him to sell out his pack but Ray is absolutely steadfast in keeping his pack’s location hidden but that’s no problem because Stefan brought wolfsbane. They proceed to torture him for several hours. Klaus is pissed that Damon keeps trailing them so Stefan says he’ll take care of it. Stefan kills Damon’s girlfriend, Andi, and he tells him to back off and quit tracking them.

Damon watches Elena try on her birthday dress and he gives her the gift of her missing necklace. There’s a lot of emotion there between these two as he puts the necklace on her. He’s trying to be cavalier but you can tell he genuinely cares about her.

Elena goes down to her birthday party and it’s much larger than Caroline promised – there must be over a hundred people there – but Elena tries to immerse herself in the festivities. Jeremy and Matt are in a side room smoking some weed and Jeremy tells him that ever since he died and Bonnie used magic to bring him back, he’s been seeing ghosts. Matt hears Jeremy say Vickie and he wants to know what’s going on – is Jeremy seeing his dead sister?

Caroline and Tyler have a confrontation over him dating and he tells her that he’s just waiting for a signal from her which she gives by giving him a big kiss on the mouth. Then they go off to have wild vampire/werewolf sex.

Elena found Damon’s hidden closet of Klaus articles and she is angry that he’s been keeping this from her. She confronts him and he tells her they weren’t Klaus’ victims, they are Stefan’s victims and she’s got to realize that Stefan is gone and he’s not coming back. He’s in real pain from the death of Andi.

Stefan leaves the bar to go stand out in the parking lot, looking sick and lost. He slowly pulls out his phone and dials a number. When Elena picks it up, Stefan doesn’t say anything but she knows it’s him. She tells him that it will be okay and to hold onto the fact that she loves him. Stefan is shown standing alone in the parking lot with a look of utter desolation on his face.

This episode ends with Caroline sneaking out of Tyler’s room after their night of intense sex and she’s met by his mother. Caroline looks shamefaced and she tries to sneak out, grabbing her purse which burns her hand. This is what Mrs. Lockwood was looking for and she darts her in the back. It ends with Caroline passed out on the floor…it looks like the game might be up for Caroline.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1, Ep. 21 “Isobel” After last week’s packed episode this one titled ‘Isobel’ felt a little bit like a breather! Nevertheless, the show moved several important stories lines to opportune places making me unbearably anxious to know what will happen in next week’s season finale.

Last week we saw Isobel making her entry into Mystic Falls. But unlike what Alaric or Elena ma have expected she turns out to be a cold hearted, selfish chick. She tells Alaric that she doesn’t care two hoots about him mourning her death and that she’s in town only to meet with Elena. She even threatens to kill his students if he fails to set up the meeting.

So Isobel (Elena’s biological mother) meets Elena and ends up hurting Elena’s feelings when she says that all she wants from her is John Gilbert’s invention and if she doesn’t hand it over to her, she’ll kill the ones she loves. John later tells Jeremy that Isobel only wants the device to keep the dangerous vampires (the ones from the tomb) from taking over the town… somehow I have a hard time believing that!

We find out later what exactly the mysterious invention does. Bonnie goes through Emily’s spell book and she discovers that John Gilbert dint really invent anything! It’s just a gadget that he put together on which Emily cast some spells to make it work like a weapon against vampires. But why would Emily want to let John think he invented something? Anyhow, Bonnie wants to make it up to Elena and tells her she can reverse the spell that Emily has cast on the device. So in effect, she can hand over the device to Isobel and John but they won’t know it will not work like they expect it to. Sounds like a great plan? Well, it did for a while anyway… but we’ll talk about that in just a little later. The Vampire Diaries Season 1, Ep. 21 “Isobel”

So Elena hands over the device to Isobel and this time around she’s stronger… she doesn’t expect too much from her mother. And this is where Vampire Diaries excels again. The show doesn’t just create random characters but it creates such wholesome, realistic characters that have several layers to them. Isobel turns out to be a caring mother who really does have her daughter’s best interest at heart even though she pretends not to care for her. She warns her daughter to stay away from the Salvatore brothers and also airs an observation she has made – Damon loves Elena! Isobel later even goes on to convince Alaric to get over her and even returns his ring… I’d say that’s pretty sensitive for a chick who claims she doesn’t care!

When Stefan later confronts Damon with the new information he doesn’t deny the accusation and also says that he wasn’t going to do anything about it. But the very thing that wasn’t possible for Damon just a few months ago is now possible… Damon is in love with a human being! And there’s no denying that the two of them have certainly developed a strong bond with Stefan’s change for the worse the past couple of weeks.

Vampire Diaries didn’t stop at that… there were a lot more twists and turns this week! It turns out that John is Elena’s biological dad!! Now this one’s completely out of the blue! Also in the phone conversation that Damon has with Isobel we also come to know that John is indeed planning to kill all the vampires in town including Damon and Stefan. Isobel and John think that the least they can do for their daughter is to provide a vampire free environment for her. Well, I can understand how parents can want a safe environment for their kids…

What’s more interesting is the twist that Bonnie brings to the story. Bonnie later confesses to Caroline that she really didn’t reverse the spell on the device like she told Elena she would. So… the device CAN kill vampires!! So do you now understand why I’m so anxious to catch next week’s episode? I sure hope John’s plan fails somewhere… but if he does manage to kill the Salvatore brothers, it sure will be a great feat for Vampire Diaries!

The Vampire Diaries Season 1, Ep. 20 “Blood Brothers” What an episode! This week’s episode titled ‘Blood Brothers’ revealed so much about the relationship the Salvatore brothers share with each other. The complexity which this episode has added to Vampire Diaries makes other shows look like child’s play … and this is exactly why I like the show so much!

As Stefan is getting over his blood thirst locked up in the basement, he drifts into past memories… of the events that lead to their transition in the first place. We find out that the brothers are discovered and shot as they try to help Katherine escape the vampire hunt. They both again regain consciousness under Emily’s care who later tells them that the two of them are transitioning as they both have Katherine’s blood in their system.

We find out that Damon willingly drinks Katherine’s blood while Stefan was forced to. Now all they have to do is feed on some human blood to complete their transition. But neither of them really wants that life now that Katherine is dead (or so they think.) So Stefan goes to meet his father and say goodbye. And here’s the biggest shocker of the episode: Stefan finds out that it was their father who had shot them and in fact he looks ashamed to see Stefan alive again! He tries to attack Stefan again while the latter resorts to self-defense. Without realizing his strength, Stefan throws his father against a wall and he ends up landing on a stake and starts to bleed. As soon as Stefan smells the blood he is overcome by an uncontrollable urge to feed and he ends up feeding on his father!!

Back at Emily’s house, Damon still doesn’t want o go on living without Katherine. Stefan feeling alive and powerful brings back a human girl and bites into her neck. Now its Damon’s turn to experience the urge to feed and eventually he also turns! This back story tells us so much about the love-hate relationship that the brothers share.

Stefan’s beef is more of a self-loathing one than about what Damon did to him although I’m sure he resents the fact that Katherine ‘chose’ to turn Damon while he was just a by product. He also feels responsible for all of Damon’s killings over the years and of course his own father’s death which I guess is the biggest blow to his will. While Damon plainly has a reason to hold a grudge against Stefan – Stefan turned him completely, against his will. The Vampire Diaries Season 1, Ep. 20 “Blood Brothers”

Back in the present day Mystic falls Stefan ends up spilling his guts to Elena. Stefan is consumed by self-hatred and decides to put an end to his own life. He walks out under sunlight without his ring… Elena soon finds him and convinces him not to go through with his plan. There were several conversations that I really liked at this point… They were very insightful! Damon later tells Stefan: “You brood too much… My actions, they belong to me. I own them.” I love the depth that such dialogues add to characters!

What’s even more interesting with the development of this new dimension is that Damon is somehow becoming more and more human while Stefan is taking over the beast role. I wonder if this new information about Stefan will end up changing things with him and Elena. I suppose no one missed the scene in which Damon casually sits on the couch and puts Elena’s feet on his lap…

Things changed drastically in other storylines as well. I guess Anna’s not going to take very well to losing her mother all over again. We find out that John is in control of the vampires that escaped from the tomb. He also ends up staking Pearl who later dies in Harper’s arms. John subsequently escapes and places a call to the Sheriff saying he has some useful information about the vampires in Mystic Falls. And here’s another shocker: Isobel is back in town!

The Vampire Diaries Season 1, Ep. 19 “Miss Mystic Falls” This week’s episode titled ‘Miss Mystic Falls’ may have started out slow but it soon geared up to its usual pace and style. In fact, I thought this week’s episode was exceptional in how it portrayed Stefan’s addiction and struggle. I must say Paul Wesley slipped into the scary vampire character flawlessly! It was rather interesting to watch the Salvatore brothers playing reverse roles in this one… with Stefan being the fun-loving scary vamp and Damon being the responsible one!

So let’s recap. Earlier on in the show Uncle John tells Damon what he’s really after – an invention that the actual John Gilbert had created. He goes on to ask Damon if he knows a vampire named Pearl who might know a thing or two about the invention’s whereabouts. But just as soon as Uncle John asks about Pearl, Damon gets a clue that he’s full of crap. So Damon tells him just that and says if John really knew Katherine then he would’ve known that Pearl was her best friend. So Damon throw John out and even threatens to kill every member of the founder’s family if he told anyone about his identity.

And this week, Pearl approaches Damon trying to make peace and remain in Mystic Falls. As a peace offering she gives Damon one of John Gilbert’s inventions! She says she stole it a while ago thinking it was the vampire finder he had invented, but it wasn’t. So, do you think this is the same invention that Uncle John was after? I’m pretty sure it is…

In the main storyline, it turns out that Stefan has more of a drinking problem than he let on last week. Damon finds out that Stefan was the one responsible for the blood banks running dry and also that he has been lying to Elena about his problem. Damon tries to help his brother by keeping this to himself but ends up spilling the beans to Elena when it all gets too much for him to handle.

So Elena confronts Stefan who tries his best to convince Elena that he’s fine but in vain. He leaves the Miss Mystic Falls Pageant in a huff and on the way convinces Amber to go with him. Now this is one of the things I like most about Vampire Diaries. Unlike other TV shows that just don’t let their hero character go too far in the wrong, Vampire Diaries boldly crosses that line! Stefan takes Amber with him into the woods and bites her! The Vampire Diaries Season 1, Ep. 19 “Miss Mystic Falls”

When Elena and Damon realize Amber has gone missing they go looking for her and fins Stefan feeding on her in the woods. They try to scare him off but to no avail… as viewers wonder if Stefan will actually kill Amber, in comes Bonnie with a new haircut and a whole new attitude. It’s good to have Bonnie back on the show… I actually started missing the witch’s storyline. So Bonnie uses her powers to finally drive Stefan away.

Elena then follows Stefan home and tries to tell him she can help him in vain. She then has no choice but to trick Stefan and inject him with a vervain filled dart. Damon then carries him down to the basement where they lock him in and hope this would help him get off human blood.

In other storylines, Anna and Jeremy get closer as Jeremy tells her he knows the secrets of Mystic Falls. And Anna admits that she has feelings for Jeremy. Anna also tells Damon later on that all the vampires (except Harper) from the tomb were kicked out of their house… well, I sure hope they come back at some later point in the show. It’ll be quite lame if the past week’s villains were so easily written off.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1, Ep. 18 “Under Control” If you thought that Stefan’s little addiction to human blood last week was merely a reaction of panic and self-loathing, you’re really not going to like this week’s revelations! He seems to be feeling a whole bunch of other feelings now, feelings of power and satisfaction and they really couldn’t bode well for his relationship with Elena, the town and even his own self!

It was hinted all too clearly that Stefan has quite a bit of history with human blood. Apparently Stefan is desperate to curb his cravings and Damon is obviously concerned about his re-introduction to human blood. So clearly something really shocking happened in the past and I can’t wait to find out what! I’m glad Stefan has this whole new unexplored side to him. Like Alaric said on the show, the guy is a vamp after all and he’s been almost human up to this point in the show. This one’s going to be a fantastic story line!

Uncle John Gilbert sure made an impression this week! There is palpable tension between him and Jenna and when Jeremy asks about it he says that’s because they used to sleep together! He’s joking right?!

Moving on, we come to know he’s in town for the big 150th anniversary party. He also attends the founder’s meeting and warns everyone that there is a vampire problem. He sure seemed to know a lot about vamps and the town.

At the party, Stefan is pissed drunk… he says the alcohol suppresses his cravings for human blood and Elena is very worried about him. When some one bumps into Elena by mistake on the dance floor Stefan soon flies off the handle. He even comes close to killing the guy later on in the parking lot.

A few others also seem to have resorted to binge drinking to help get through tough times. Matt’s mother and Tyler too get drunk, trying to deal with Vicki’s death and what’s worse they end up making out in the party!! Matt finds them going at it and tries to pull them apart when Tyler beats the crap put of him! A few episodes ago there was a hint that Tyler could be a werewolf and there were more such hints in this episode too. When Alaric helps break up the fight we see some sort of smoke coming out of Tyler’s mouth.

In another corner of the party John tells Damon that he knows all about the tomb he had opened. And Damon coolly breaks his neck in reaction and dumps his body. But here’s the shocker – John walks back into the party like nothing happened just a few minutes later! So I guess Alaric is not the only one with the magic ring.

When Alaric and Damon insist on some information, he tells them that he and his brother inherited those rings (which he later gives Isobel)… But from whom? I won’t be surprised if Damon later decides to gang up with John in order to get information about Katherine. But how does John know so much? And what does he really want? The Vampire Diaries Season 1, Ep. 18 “Under Control”

Later we see Stefan confiding in Elena about all that he’s feeling. He tells her he’s never felt such craving before which could only mean that maybe he’s finally recovering from his crazed phase… but no! We see him drinking a glass of blood later on in the episode… this I’m sure can only mean trouble!

In other storylines, Jeremy reads Elena’s diary and he now knows all about Stefan, Damon and the town itself. If it was the old Jeremy he might’ve resorted to drugs to deal with the information but what is he going to do now?

Matt asks his mother to leave after the embarrassing make-out incident in the party and elsewhere Tyler’s father gives him one hard slap for the scene he created at the party.
